Business Unit Supply Chain Manager- Salt Lake City Area
The Position:
Our client is a growth oriented, global Fortune 300 diversified industrial. The Business Unit Supply Chain Manager, located in the Salt Lake City area, provides daily direction and leadership to a Supply Chain team in all aspects of this key functional discipline. This leader will foster a high performance culture and work to develop the team to achieve or exceed their full potential. They will bring a primary focus on people, process and performance in support of the Business Units operational activities. Fostering a culture of customer service is necessary as this team partners with many different areas across the business. A philosophy of continuous improvement is essential, as the team strives to remove waste and simplify everything they do.
Responsibilities:
The position will directly report to the Business Unit Manager (General Manager) and is therefore a key member of the business unit leadership team. With additional accountability to the Division Supply Chain Leader, consistent with a matrix organization, it is important to have the ability to also represent the function.
This role has overall responsibility for approximately 60+ supply chain team members, with five direct reports. This leader will have overall responsibility for the complete material control process including planning, procurement, fulfilment, production/inventory control, and transportation logistics. Interaction with all levels of internal management; including operational, engineering, quality control, marketing and finance and sharing of best practice across the function are key relationship and communication elements of this role. They will be the primary leadership interface for the suppliers and the champion developing strong working relationships with the external leadership at key strategic suppliers.
- This person will leverage their expertise and past experience to position the team for an optimum outcome that is focused heavily on customer experience and service.
- An ability to challenge the status quo in a constructive fashion and build a team consensus around new ideas and solutions is a desired attribute.
- Accountable for managing the materials and procurement functions within the business unit for both OEM and Aftermarket product.
- Ensure each element of the Supply Chain process is optimized and staffed appropriately.
- Maintain a focus on developing standard work within the process and flawless execution, with a constant pursuit to eliminate waste and simplification both within and across the functional boundary.
- Responsible for managing the operational inventory through process excellence in the planning and fulfilment processes.
- Ensuring that the material processes are lean while avoiding costly shortages that disrupt production.
- This leader will develop and implement improvement plans and forecasts that will enable the business unit to improve its management of cash.
- Responsible for facilitating collaboration between the business unit and the Divisional team to ensure the needs of the business unit are accommodated within the Commodity strategic planning process.
- Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprise principles and practices.
Requirements:
- 7+ years leadership experience in supply chain management.
- A Bachelors degree in business, engineering, supply chain, materials management or other related field required. A Masters or MBA preferred.
- Certification in supply chain management preferred.
- Strong business acumen
- Exceptional negotiation skills
